  1. I want to encode my mpeg-1 films to divx format.I make ripping file.dat from cd with vcdgear.Then I try to encode virtualdub and flaskmpeg,It be sometimes ,don't be sometimes.Mpeg-1 to divx conversion have very problems.
    Once I have tried to encode with Tmpeg.It was do but not sound.
    Please,May you suggest mpeg(dat) to divx ways and quides me.?

  2. Mpeg is divx. Divx is the codec (COmpression/DEComprssion) used to compress the video in the decoding process and decompressthe video so that you can watch them on your computer. If you want to convert mpeg 1 to avi you can use faskmpeg you can get that @ http://www.flaskmpeg.net/

  3. VirtualDub would work well for this. Get the lastest version of Virtualdub, get the Nimo Codec Pack (from the Tools section), open the MPEG file in ViertualDub, choose one of the DIVX codecs for compression and output the video to DIVX. I have done that many times to add subtitles to movies I have gotten in MPEG format.
