OK I have had several batches of their media and ALL of them always provided horrible results.
When I burn with Prassi I will almost always have it record and verify the disc.
Every discs reports errors after the burn.
Before I thought to use the verify recording mode I found my DVDs would either be horribly blocky & freeze up while playing on my standalone DVD player, however when I would play it on my computer, on my Pioneer A03 it didn't do it NEARLY as much.
My Data only DVDs would cause my system to lock up when attempting to access certain files.
Needless to say I have never had good results with them.
What I find so hard to believe is that I purchased a bootleg DVD of Madonna videos on ebay and it was in fact on a dual sided cdrecordable.com brand DVD and it played PERFECTLY for me.
So am I to assume they work with other drives then my Pioner DVR-A03??? Do they work in the new A04 or other brand drives?
Please give me you good or bad reviews of these DVDs.
And also on the topic of cheep discs, The DVDPro purple DVDs that look EXACTLY like Pioneer brand work great and are super cheep, and so do the ones that www.meritline.com sells as their house brand. Never had any issues with either brands and both under $2 a disc.
And has anybody found any other dual sided DVDs besides cdrecordable.com brand??

I have had OK results with CDrecordable discs.
I find that problems are the result of a combination of media, authoring software, and burning software.
Try burning with the latest version of Nero.
And for $2 at Meritline, why bother with the others???
BTW,

Princo's for $1.39
Burns 2x in an AO3. Plays in my Apex's (ad-500a, 500w, 703). -
I've not had ANY problems at all with cdrecordable.com media, and i'm burning with the Pioneer A03, and playing in a Toshiba SD-5700

I have heard mixed reviews on the generic CDRecordable media. Some people swear that it works but only when burned in 1x. Others say it works but the outer tracks cause pixelation and stuttering on set tops. Some others say that it does not work at all.
I have not used their media yet and will probably never since they cannot maintain the quality of their media.
I have tried the generics from 'TapeandMedia.com' and MeritLine with 'mostly' positive results. (There is always a bad apple in the bunch) But I am getting frustrated by the extra effort generic media requires. For this reason I have started using Apple media. At 5 bucks each they are not cheap but they perform like the pricey ($8 – $12) media. I am created 8 DVDs so far with this media without a single unplayable movie. -
I've not had a problem with the CD-RECORDABLE disks. They happily burn at 2X under NERO and I have never had one fail. I burn with a DVR-A04. Set top player is a Pioneer DV-343.

Someone posted a little while back that the purple DVDPro DVD-Rs work fine up untill the outer part of the disc then start to act up. I seriously wonder of DVDPro and Pioneer DVD-Rs are made by the same place. They both have the same look and they are printed the same. Only the DVDPro DVDs don't say Pioneer obviously. I have onlye had about 4 or 5 bad discs using these purple DVDPro brand DVDs, and I have gone through about 75 of them so far. The plain unbranded silver DVDPro discs that meritline is selling in the super special have been flawless so far. I have made about 30 of the unbranded ones with no errors and perfect video playback.

One more point here. I had a failure of a CD-RECORDABLE disk (but it wasn't a disk failure), that was caused by a cutting program that hosed up my GOP headers (this program was Vitec's MPEG-2 Clip - a $250 piece of shit). Funny, but the disk simmulated well in the authoring package, but NOT PowerDVD. I attributed the PowerDVD failure to some program hijacking a needed codec (wrongly, it turns out). I brought up BitRate Viewer (the FULL version) and read the "clipped" file under it (BR Viewer will give you the COMPLETE structure of your GOPs). The resulting GOP "string" looked something like this:
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBBIPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBBIPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBBIPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBBIPBBPBBPBBPBBIPBPBBPBBPBB... in otherwords, it was screwed up to the max. So I went to the "pre-clipped" file and examined the GOP stucture. It looked like this:
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB
IPBPBBPBBPBB... ,which is pretty much perfect.
Because some of the headers were missing (the DVD specs says that ALL GOPs must have a header), my set top player could not play this DVD - it would jerk, freeze, loose audio sync and then loose audio altogether. I had done a test burn on a Princo DVD-RW which came with batch of Princo DVD-Rs which were trash. I suspected that the DVD-RW was also bad, so I ignored all the evidence and burned the disk again using a CD-REC disk. Of course, I obtained the same results.
I find it strange that the people who say that they don't work ALSO say that these disks won't burn at 2X. These disks WILL burn at 2X!!! Let me repeat - these disks WILL burn at 2X!!! If the disks that you received do not, then look into your setup. I beleive that your problems will be found there! -

Verbatim. $60 for a five pack. Not cheap, but at least you don't have to buy 50! -
Neishaverse: That is exactly the problem with the DVDpro disk... I use them for small projects only... for full movies they are crummy.
I'm hearing the new Sonys with the Percision Drive 2 can read just about anything.... not verification yet though. -
