Yes, i had the problem once, but more likely they were yellow-light green and impossible to read. I used Subrip 0.97, but saved the subtitles as 8bit .BMPs. Then I switch to 4 bit .BMPs and used submux to add them to the .MPG. They are OK now. Hope this helps.

  3. hrm....wanna elaborate further on which procedure you used to get the subtitles..did you use those all-in-one proggies like dvd2svcd or dvdx?

if you're using the traditional smartripper->dvd2avi->tmpgenc->nero...

here are two methods you should check out:

    1) vobsub/vdub http://www.doom9.org/vobsub.htm

    2) flaskmpeg/avisynth http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdtovcdflask.htm

  4. I ripped the pan and scan version to the hard drive and used ifoedit to create new ifo files and then burnt the dvd. movie is great but when looking at the subtitles they are green and very hard to read.

I would have thought with this method it should be the same as the original
