Hello all. I've got a wee problem with Avidemux. I am a permanent newbie when it comes to this stuff, so please bear with me.

My machines are both ss and 64 bit, one being a full size Asus Vivobook (in the shop right now, because, I suspect, of Microslop) and a Dell XPS 13 (small screen). Both operate on windows 10 and I wish there was a 'true' alternative to it. But the State gives us what it gives us and that's that.

Avidemux, which I use solely for getting excerpts of videos (partly because I only know how to do that), doesn't size properly on my screen. I don't have the smarts to trouble-shoot this. Is it Dell? Is it Microslop? I don't know. I have a link to all versions of Avidemux, so, on the off chance that it's none of the above, Does anyone know which version of Avidemux I will not have that problem with? I'm using the latest at the moment. Features (graphically) overlap. I'm not sure whether that impairs functionality, but I'd rather have a version of Avidemux that simply appears on my screen as the designer(s) intended it to.

Thanks in advance. Arby aka Rick

  2. Are you talking about the main (preview) window or do you talk about the resulting output video ?

Thanks. I'm talking about the main window that you see before you do a thing. Here's a screen grab: https://app.box.com/s/4n7nlxqvi1m1za232twgkq0gazqzbxrh

Please note that the size arrow that normally allows you to grab a side and move it so as to change the dimensions of the frame don't work. If I simply click on the middle icon between max and min, the resulting smaller frame still isn't adjustable and I lose my bottom buttons.

There is absolutely no need to put a single screen grab on an external site. You just post in direct here as an attachment.

Now if I read you correct, avidemux starts in a window. And like any window it is resizable by dragging the sides. And that is the behaviour as I see it.

DB83: This is my second time responding. Interesting.

Sorry about the screen grab. I'll remember that I don't need to do that.

On my Dell, the normal arrow/grab that you can do to size a screen is incapacitated for Avidemux (which makes me wonder if it's the version I have). If I click on the middle icon that sets the page in between min and max, I lose the bottom row of buttons and, again, I can't manually resize the page. jababo says that I should set windows back to 100% font size. I didn't alter that font size and don't know anything about it. If someone could tell me a bit more, I'd be happy to experiment.

Similar in other versions of Windows.

I'm going to experiment here. I found the above setting. The problem for me is that font is too small. I'll report back. I don't need to change the font size for my full size laptop fortunately.

    *a couple minutes later...

I reduced the font size on my Dell XPS 13 from 150 to 125 and that cleared up the problem. The font's a little small for my taste, but I'll try to adjust to it. Thanks jagabo.

  9. Use Windows' built in Magnifier tool. Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Ease of Access -> Magnifier. I have it connected to the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) for quickly zooming in when necessary.
