  1. Oh dear, my favourite video editing program Avidemux seems to have given up the ghost, Damn!

Most unusual problem. Been running okay for ages and suddenly developed a most peculiar fault it starts all right, video loads no prob, but as soon as I start editing everything freezes can't access any of the commands like edit, etc.
Funny thing is when I switch to another window and then switch back to Avidemux it works again, until I click on next task, like moving cursor, edit, or whatever when it freezes again. Looks like it only does one command at a time before it freezes. So the only way to get it working is each time I do anything is to click on another window and then click back to Avidemux again which is extremely tiresome of course.
Also when it freezes I cannot close the program either, I have to go to task manager and manually close it.
I just can't figure out what is doing it and as I said it happened suddenly for no apparent reason.
I have both versions of the program 32-bit and 64-bit and both have the same problem!

Tried everything to cure this but is just keep doing it and have given up and ask for advice.
The computer in itself runs no problem, no other programs are causing any hassle, have restarted ,cleaned files with CC cleaner etc, done everything possible but it just keeps happening.

    System 8.1 4GB Ram, 2.16Ghz,

And you are using same avidemux version as before? Maybe try an older or newer version.

Is it just avidemux that has such problems?

  3. Yes just avidemux has the problem... as I said computer and other progs running fine and one of the versions (the 32bit) is older and the 64 bit is the latest version
Like I said all been working just fine for months, but suddenly this problem, which is most perplexing!

what have you added, changed, updated ?
something has corrupted an important file
did you try UN-installing both versions, then re-installing only ONE version, just for isolation test purposes

  5. well as I said all was very peculiar...even more so now, as it appears to have cured itself
Last night switched off computer instead of leaving it on hibernate and in the morning everything worked no problem. Was surprised as I tried restart several times before which did nothing.

But after overnight switch off now OK...we all get tired at times, so maybe it just needed a good rest
