    ok here is the deal, following newbie conversion using virtualdub and for some reason when i save the save wav file it doesnt convert sound to wav. if i go to properties on saved file, it states file type: file. not wav.
    can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

    Yes, its an easy problem to fix. Goto the AUDIO tab in virtualdub, and select FULL PROCESSING MODE. problem solved.
