OK I have film on a dv cam. I extracted a 2 min clip of still shots in a single avi file (no memory cards). I want to take the avi and extract images out of to edit, print, etc as a single picture. There's roughly 10 pictires I need to extract but I'm having a little difficulty doing it. I have Adobie Premiere 6, Ulead Video Studio 4SE, amongst various other software. Can some one helpe me on this? Thanks

Open the AVI in virtual dub. video...copy to clipboard. Paste into your favorite image editor and save to disk.
Alternatively, you can also save an image sequence in virtual dub (file...save image sequence), but that saves all sequential frames in your file (dozens, hundreds, thousands, so this can get huge). As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war." -
In Premiere 6, the Export function in the file menu has a Frame option. Whichever frame is currently showing will be saved as a .bmp file.
