Hi everyone, so I have a tablet which has HDMI out (micro HDMI). Until now I was able to connect it to my 21" Acer monitor, which is FHD using either a DVI to micro HDMI cable or a micro HDMI to VGA converter, this one right here. Tablet is Onda v820w. Now I got my hands on an older 17" LCD monitor, this one here. This monitor has VGA and DVI-D inputs, but when I use those same adapters that worked with my Acer monitor, all I get is a black screen on the 17" monitor. Note that monitor works fine with my PC, so it's not broken or anything like that. So far the list of reasons from my own experience and from what I was able to gather reading up on this issue online would be that the problems are:

Use of longer cables/adapters (1m, 2m cables are used)
Resolution and display ratio are not supported by the tablet
I'm not using an active HDMI to VGA converter
Monitor doesn't support HDCP, and I would need HDCP stripper

What I'm asking is some input on whether I can get this to work? Which is more likely to be causing problems?

  2. Can you set the tablet to 1280x1024 at 60 Hz or less? That's about the limit monitor can handle.

Thanks for the reply. No, I can't control the output resolution at all. Tablet is dual boot, Android and Windows 8.1 and neither one detects that I attached a monitor. It's like it's not even there, monitor screen doesn't turn on it just stays in sleep mode. When I connect tablet to my Acer monitor image in Android is in center of the screen, not 16:9, and in Windows I can go up to 1920x1080. This is Intel CPU with Bay trail graphics. I think that it should have support for 1280x1024, shouldn't it?
