Need help from video experts, hdmi to vga to dvi

I normally use my projector, i use a vga male to vga male cable i attach a vga female to dvi male converter, works great. This time i used another projector that has hdmi i had a hdmi male to hdmi male cable then i bought a hdmi female to dvi male converter to plug that in my mac. I was getting signal but the screen wasn't very clear i had swirls of color, i adjusted some videos settings on my laptop, didin't work. Could this be because of the converter,my mac or the projector?

You mean projector is VGA and computer end is DVI-I? If so this is all analog VGA.

Umm, seems all DVI-D but unclear. A different digital technology.

OK, now we know you have some kind of Mac laptop. Mac and projector need configuration.

Suggest you make an appointment and haul it all down to the genius bar.

Great thanks for the help, im getting signal thats for sure, like i said the signal is unclear..seems like a problem with the colors for a split second the colors are clear and everything seems to work.

Depends on many things primarily auto config of the projector, or display settings on the Mac.

The projector may need manual config. Since you aren't telling us the projector details we have no way to know.
