  1. I'm pretty new at this and I just got the ATI TV Wonder USB. I only have 1 pair of composite cables that lead out from my VCR ... 1 cable to video and 1 cable leading to audio in on my capture device (not into SB Live)... thus making it Mono instead of Stereo.

Now I select my source with ATI's software and hit play on the VCR... I have audio through my PC speakers and video... all is good. But I would rather use VirtualDub or VideoStudio 6. Neither software plays the audio, but the video is perfect.

Is this because I'm running in Mono and not Stereo? I've looked everywhere within both programs and I can't seem to get the audio to come through. I tried a test capture and the played-back AVI file didn't have audio either.

Also, TMPGENC.com seems to be down... where else can I find tmpgenc?

    Thanx in advance.

  2. Well i found TMPGENC (at tmpgenc.net) and I'll see if sound comes through there. Can you even capture with TMPGENC ?

If anyone can help me with VirtualDub (consensus says it's the best), I'd appreciate it!!!

i have the same problem with my ati tv wonder pci capture card.
when using ati software, i am able to capture video files from my analog camcorder, but when i use VS6, i can capture videp but no audio. luckily i didnt purchase the full version license copy of VS6 as of yet.

  4. It has been brought to my attention that the audio must go through the sound card and not the capture device. That worked for me... I have sound coming into my computer speakers even when no application but Windows is running.

I don't know if you ATI PCI card even has inputs for sound. Try your sound card and make sure you don't have LINE IN on mute through your sound properties.

my first attempt was to move the audio-in cable from the ati capture card to the soundblaster sound-in card. i was able to preview while capturing the video with audio. but after capturing and then finalizing it to MPEG, i get absoluting no audio. i've checked the speaker properties and the only think MUTE is the microphone. hmm.. since the audio cable is running to the line-in soundblaster sound card, maybe i should run it back out and then into the ati capture card.

  6. As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
