Okay, I have an mpg file that I have captured. I then perfectly converted the file to avi using autogk to be able to edit out what I wanted using videostudio 8.
I have edit all of the video so that I have it just the way that I want.
When I try to save the file to my hard drive as an avi, it goes through the rendering process and at 90% gives me the error message:
Unable to access the audio codec driver. [17115:4:2]
The new avi file is saved to the directory that I saved it in, and the video quality is great, but no audio at all.
Should I use a different program to edit the video, or is there a codec that I don't have and need to get?
Thanks

You might considder doing it the other way around: edit your MPEG in VideoStudio, then > Share > save as: same as project. Then, if you still want to convert to AVI use AutoGK. Reason is that frame-accurate editing is much easier for MPEG than for AVI: in AVI you can only cut at 'key'frames whereas MPEG can be cut anywhere.

Sounds to me like you have a corrupted codec, I'm assuming you can play the source video? What format audio are you trying to export as?
See what Codec Sniper tells you

AVI is not a format and can contain many types of video like DV-AVI which is made up entirely of individual frames which can be cut anywhere with any tool. -
Alright, thanks for the help, so far.
Ruut, I'd like to have done a mpeg file, but when opening mpeg files in videostudio, I get the error message:
Unable to open file [C:\filename.mpg]
File format mismatch. [16803:1:2]
Just to try it, I tried renaming the file extention to .mpeg, no luck there either.
thecoalman, after using codec sniper, all of my codecs were okay, except for one that was listed for a program that I uninstalled a long time ago called Easy Movie Converter. It was so long ago, actually, that I don't really remember it.
As far as what video format I am trying to export as, I guess it's just whatever the default is. There was never an option for that, and I am very much just learning all of this.
Finally, I went into Windows Movie Maker, and edited and exported the file as a .wmv, and it works perfectly. The reason that I continue to ask about avi/mpg is that eventually I will need to know how to edit and save.
Thanks again for all the help. -
Back up, sorry, I should read better.
I missed the part about you converting with Autogk from MPEG. As ruut suggested the correct way is to import the MPEG. One of the better features of Video Studio is that it works well for editing MPEG, it will only reencode what is necessary such as where you have added transitions. The rest of the clip remains unchanged so you don't lose any quality and it speeds the process up quite a bit.
Load the MPEG file you captured into G-Spot and see what kind of audio it has. I'm going to guess it's AC3 (dolby digital) and you don't have the AC3 plugin which is purchased separately for version 8. Version 9 and up have it with the basic package.
If your capture card allows you to capture with PCM use that instead.
