I am capturing widescreen HD content from my PVR (Tivo HD) using the ATI Theater 650 Pro TV Tuner card. Capture is done using an S-Video cable for video and regular audio cables for audio which go from the back of the TIVO into the purple capture box for the tuner card, which then plugs into the S-Video input on the card itself in the back of my computer. I am using VideoStudio X2 to do the capture. The only setting option I have in VideoStudio for capture is the bitrate (6000, 8000, 9000 kbps). I know I cannot capture HD, but I want my output to be 16:9 instead of 4:3.

When the capture occurs, the video is in the 4:3 format with the images stretched vertically like you'd expect from a 16:9 image being reduced to 4:3. When I view the properties of the captured file, it indeed notes the frame is 4:3. Is there any way to make VideoStudio X2 output to 16:9? I tried setting the "Project Properties" to 16:9 and when I created a new file using the "Same as Project Properties" option, the new file actually says in the properties: "Attributes: 24 bits, 720x480, 16:9" but it looks the same as the original (4:3) and when I burn a test disc it's not 16:9, it still looks the same.

Is there anything I can do? Do I need a different capture card?
