all my dvd rips seem to have the volume quite low,
is this down to the quality of the sound card?
it's only onboard ac97 sound. but i do have a hercules fortisimo in another machine, anybody know if this would help?
cheers
im using cladxp dvd2avi tmpgenc

yeah. i noticed that too. when i convert my dvdrips to divx, i always rip the audio and video seperatly.. i then convert the ac3 to wav and amplify it 6 to 8 db in cool edit..

if you wanna fix it the easy way w/o any extra programs....there is a normalization feature in dvd2avi's audio menu you can use to normalize the audio....this should increase your volume...there are also other settings in the audio menu you can use to increase quality/volume
