I am looking to increase the volume on a DVD and its been a long time since I have done anything with DVDs etc etc. If I recall I need to DE-MULTIPLEX the file, alter the audio to what i require and the MULTIPLEX it back together again, Am i on the right lines.........I have TMPGenc Studio installed on my PC. The dvd file has been ripped using SHRINK and is in the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder mode. Do I need to convert the DVD file into another format so I can achieve my goal ?

Rarely is it the case of DVD Audio (usually Ac-3) being TOO LOW. It's usually the case that everything else is TOO LOUD.
Seriously, AC-3 has "dialnorm" which attempts to set the level so that on consumer devices, most programs will have an AVERAGE sound that is consistent.
Many consumers/prosumers/hobbyists will overuse "Normalize" to maximize the peak level regardless of any varying peak-to-average ratio changes from program to program. (and those other formats add to the problem with no support for dialnorm)
Think about it this way: I have a recording of a pin dropping and a cannon firing. If I Normalize BOTH, the sound of the pin dropping will be similarly as loud as the cannon - which should NOT be the case.
When you do need to do a consistent RMS/Average levelling, ReplayGain is a good way to go...

Thanks for the replies. I have managed to DE-MUX the DVD file which creates an AUDIO WAV file and a VIDEO M2v file. I can also MUX them back together succesfully. HOWEVER if I alter the audio track MUXMAN will not accept the altered audio file. I use a program called Multiquience to alter the WAV file. Any suggestions ?
