    You must reenocode then.

You could post some short samples or screenshots and someone might help with filter/effects ideas.

Oops. I misread your original post.

Yes, you can cut without reconvert with for example solveigmm avi trimmer (avi, mkv), mpg2cut2(mpg,vob), video to video converter(mp4,mkv).

If you want more detailed help then give us more information about your source video.

    Or try AVIDemux

It might even do everything you want as it supports some basic filtering/editing

  10. You're kind of missing the whole point of Vegas. Just import your complete clips and use the sections you need. No re-encoding required until output.

Not being able to find your subclips is just poor organization. They aren't even really necessary.

thats why i wanted to have my clips already before i put them into vegas because like i said i said im not that good with the program i found out where my subclips were going by doing a quick search of my hard drives and they were goin to my temp folder on local disk d having my clips before i use vegas is easier to me cause i can just drag and drop but i ended up using video to video did exactly what i needed it to

  12. For your future reference, subclips aren't physical clips that live on your drive. They are virtual representations of parts of the master clip that exist only in Vegas as a shortcut or marker -- hence quick access and no loss of quality.

Glad your kludge worked for you.
