Hi,
I've been wondering about this for quite some time now, and I'm hoping someone on this great forum will be able to answer my question.
Is there any logo remover type software out there (both free and for sale), which will blur the logo in such a way that the end result is not a static blurred rectangle/square, but rather a smooth transition from blur (where the logo is) to clear (video outside the logo). Sort of as if you were to use a spray can over the logo, or the blur-tool in Photoshop, or a highlighted area with the "feather" setting. I'm sorry, this is the best way I can explain it. If you need to see an example picture of what I'm wanting to achieve, I can provide that.
The software needs to be fairly easy to use, and be able to open raw VOB/MPG files (and not require conversion to AVI first) and save as VOB too. A software I really like is "Remove Logo Now!", but sadly it doesn't do the smooth transitioned blur, but the static "blurred box" type.
Any help appriciated!
I'm sorry for the poor explanation, English isn't my mother language.

I use Xlogo, which blurs on a mask, not a complete rectangle.
See here for a howto: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/273109-Remove-an-opaque-logo-using-Xlogo-in-Avisynth
If the logo is alpha-transparent, you can get excellent results using nologo.
See https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/307307-Best-logo-remover
Both these are Avisynth plugins and easy to use... once you know Avisynth.
Avisynth can open MPEG. But whatever method you use, after editing requires reencoding, so that will take quite a while.
And it's not recommended to edit VOBs at all. Best to convert them first to MPEG.
If you want a tool that will just do it all and give you a cleaned file, I don't think it exists. Let me know if you find one.Last edited by AlanHK; 21st Feb 2013 at 03:19.

Well, I suppose that does fit what he asked for, but I don't think he really wanted to have a black (or any fixed colour) box instead of a logo.
Logo removal filters also try to replace the background, and the extent to which they (appear to) do that is what makes a good filter, not just obscuring the logo. -
If he doesn't want a black overlay he can use a blurred copy of the original video instead. I find the jittery crap left behind by logo removers to be more distracting than the original logo. Semi transparent logos can be removed with little residual junk/noise. But that doesn't seem to be what the OP is talking about.
Overlay with blurred version of the source:

I am REALLY sick and tired of people coming here writing in perfect or nearly perfect English and then apologizing for how "bad" it is.
Be a man. Stop apologizing and lying because you know you can write well enough for us to understand it. If you can write "sadly it doesn't do the smooth transitioned blur" then you know good and well how good your English is. People who actually are bad at English don't write things like that. We get awful posts from time to time from people who use computer translation to post here (those can be very difficult to understand) and a few guys who maybe studied English for a few months 20 years ago who write absolute crap posts that we can't understand at all and they don't even bother to apologize for it. -
Well, yes. And doing that unobtrusively is what a true "logo filter" does.
Only jittery if you make the mask too tight on the logo or have a noisy background, such as a tracking shot along a street.
As I mentioned, using Nologo in Avisynth.
