  1. hi every one

    i downloaded a movie with the extension (wmv) and has been encoded using the latest DivX+ technology i think

    i tried opening it by windows media player and automatically opened a window to download vio player

    so i did that and all it needed and still not working

    i tried another angle by downloading xvid codec on my PC and still didn't work

    so, i went and tried the divx+ package and still nothing

    and now i have no idea to what to do

    so please if any one can help me i'll be very thankful or any one with an will be very appreciated

    You downloaded a player from the video? It could be malware/spyware/virus...I would never do that.


    Try play with VLC. If it wont work find another video source.


    And it's not any dvd video.

    Corrupted no. Encrypted yes. I do not know the score but I would guess that the player you required - downloaded at playback - requires some password to allow playback of this file.

    Does this topic come under Warez rules ?

    Does being encrypted mean tools like MediaInfo will incorrectly report the video's duration? I note that despite being 684MB, it's encrypted, uses the WMV/ASF 'feature' to call up a webpage to (automatically?) download another player, BUT is only 15 seconds in length.

    So, it's either a fake/malware, or perhaps something from a video service (adult or otherwise) that tries to make sure you're using their special player to view their service or download and view their videos, I don't know. The OP would be better able to explain that than I.

    15 secs. But check out that bit-rate !!!!

    But my guess is now you have something pretty nasty in your system. Will require more that a scan of that file and even a full system scan may not detect it.
