Hello,
New here with my first post.
I am in the process of copying VHS to DVD on this unit. A VHS tape went through with a fold on the tape. The back side of the tape traveled over the playhead for about 15 seconds before I could catch it. Now, the picture is scrambled. I have played several other tapes with the same result. The audio is fine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Jerry

Just my opinion, but I would pull that part of the tape out of the cassette and inspect it and see if there are any missing pieces on that section of tape. Best to do this with lint free gloves, or unpowdered latex if nothing else is available. Finger oil is not good on tape.
A piece of tape may have flaked off and got stuck on one of the VHS tape guides. The back side of the tape shouldn't have hurt anything, but if a piece of tape came off it could be throwing off the tape tracking.
It's also possible something is stuck to the head itself. You would probably have to pull the lid off the deck and take a look in there.
But others may have some better ideas.
And welcome to our forums. -
Awesome!! Fixed. Thanks for the help. Cleaned the heads and VHS is back in service. Thanks again.
