  1. I'm trying to intstall BD Rbldr on a new comp with Win 7 64bit
I've got everyting passed the BD R inspection except AVC codec
I tried Win7DSFilterTweaker 4.7 which helped me change a few things but it wont let me change h.264 (which is the AVC codec right?)
I select ffdshow under h.264 but when i hit apply it reverst back to microsoft

This is a pretty clean install of windows got all updates.

I have installed Media Player Classic - Home Cinema x64

If i try to install BD Rblder (3906) anyway i get err msg "componet ' MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered. a file is missing or invalid."

  2. Hi skinney6,

I had the same problem but have sorted it now, I hope this fixes it for you too.

I went into the registry editor and located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectShow\P referred - this should be set to enable changes by the Win7DSFilterTweaker 4.7 install but didnt on mine, although apparently it's worked for other Windows 7 64-bit installs.

To set the registry settings, first you have right-click on the entry, and go to permissions. Then you need to click the 'advanced' button and go to the 'owner' tab > set yourself as owner instead of TrustedInstaller (if you dont do this you cant change the permissions, as I found out). Now you can change the permissions on the folder > I gave everybody full control.

Now run Win7DSFilterTweaker 4.7 again and your H.264 changes should stick!

Incidentally, I couldnt change the registry owner back but I've removed full control permissions for everyone except TrustedInstaller again.

Hope this helps - sounds like you had exactly the same issue as me!

    Thanks,
    Andrew.

  4. I'm assuming it's not me!

I was hoping to use BDRB to strip the BD to my hard disc then use Handbrake from there, but although I've sorted that codec problem I still get errors with the backup as follows:

    -----------------------
    [16:53:37] BD Rebuilder v0.39.07 (beta)
    - Source: LAW_ABIDING_CITIZEN
    - Input BD size: 33.32 GB
    - Approximate total content: [02:38:09.204]
    - Target BD size: 48.83 GB
    - Windows Version: 6.1 [7601]
    - Auto Quality: Good (Very Fast), ABR
    - Audio Settings: AC3=0 DTS=0 HD=0 Kbs=640
    [16:53:41] PHASE ONE, Encoding
    - [16:53:41] Processing: VID_00001 (1 of 11)
    - [16:53:41] Extracting A/V streams [VID_00001]
    - Error in attempt to extract audio/subs.
    - Bitstream exception Unknown exception. It does not have to be! Plase contact the application support team for more information.
[16:53:44] - Failed to retrieve audio, aborted

I hope you have more luck - I cant even post the issue on the BDRB forum (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716) because you cant post until 5 days after registration and I only registered today. I've heard RipBot is good as well, but not looked into it.

    Best of luck,
    Andrew.

  8. Hi Skinney6,

I think you missed a step in my instructions - you need to set the owner first (see my first reply for instructions).

What settings did you use for BluRay? I use RF19 for DVD which comes out nice, but not really played with the other options.

    Thanks,
    Andrew.
