  1. Hello my dear friends,
    Let me explain my problem.
I need a software which can cut desired number of seconds from the beginning of the movie AND works in direct mode (without recompression).
I want to remove advertisement from the beginning
Apparently VirtualDub cannot do this exactly as I want for example when I want to cut first 7 seconds it cuts less of them and leaves few frames.
So, VirtualDub cuts but not exact number of frames I want.
    Is that a bug?
I haven't checked if that bug happens also in Full Processing mode; if anyone know please tell me tow to resolve this.
Alternatively, I could replace this advert with black frames but I don't know how to.
    Thanks!!

The bug is not in VirtualDub; it is an inherent issue with long GOP (Group of Pictures) video streams. You say NOTHING about the type of video file you have, but from the nature of your complaint, my guess is Xvid avi.

When dealing with videos that are compressed into GOPs, you can only cut on I-frames in direct mode.

  3. That's right, I am trying with xvid avi.
    I see your point.
But what about Full Processing mode? Can I cut exact number of frames in this mode?

Make sure you have the latest version of VirtualDub. Use Smart Rendering to render only the needed frames around the edit point, while maintaining Direct Stream copy around the remainder of the video. You may also need to use Cut Assistant to navigate to the exact frame.
