no picture after converting

:I am converting a .avi to .mpg so I can play on my stand alone DVD player. Before converting I can get both sound and picture. I use TMPGEnc to convert and when I play the new converted Mpg on Windows Media Player (again) and Realtime (again) I get sound but no picture. I have tried this on 3 different .avi files and the same thing happens. Am I missing something somewhere, but I followed step by step. Please help! I am new at this as well, and just can't get it, have also looked for the answer to this problem all over this site. oohh ya, I have the updated codec for Media player and realtime and DIVx....... :-?

I had this very same problem. Try downloading the Nimo codec pack...in the tools section to the left of the screen. this solved my problem! let me know if it works

Thanks I figured it out.. I had Divx codec 5 and apparetly there is a copyright on it so it will not convert properly. I down graded to 4 and it worked!
