Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums, but was hoping you could help me out on this one.
I'm currently busy, trying to fix a Philips DVP3100v with the following problem:
On some tv's, the sync seems to be off, resulting in a rolling picture.
I've hooked up the oscilloscope to the composite video output to do some readings, and there i stumbled upon something strange.
The signal looks ok (not scrambled) however, when measuring peaks, i get a Vp-p varying from 1,3V all the way through 2,1v.
If i hook the oscilloscope up to a different random VCR here, the readings seem far more normal (I was tought that composite signals have 0v - 0,3v sync and 0,3v to 1,0v of further picture information, giving a Vp-p of around 1,0V)
Now i suspect that's the cause of the problem.
I see the sync signal has a DeltaV of ~609mV , which is around double what i had expected.
Do my findings seem correct? (Roughly i suspect that the output signal is twice as strong as it should be, possibly causing the issue on -some- TV's, my test-setup tv does not have any sync issue.) And does someone perhaps have an idea what may cause this problem?
I might be far off, that's possible, my expertise really isn't in video signals, that's why i'm visiting you
Pictures of oscilloscope readings are attatched too! (HP 54600A used)
Thanks if anyone can provide some input. (sorry for the large thumbnails, cant find a way to solve that)
If there's any questions, of course, feel free to ask!
Greetings, Tom.
