i burned a documentary and when i watched it, there were these weird motion blurs that weren't there in the original video. the titles that i made were also cut off. we used one of those sony handycams that record on mini dvd's. i exported the project to an mpeg-2 file and converted it to video_ts videos with DVDFLICK. then i burned it to a dvd-r with Nero StartSmart. can anyone tell me what I did wrong? or would you need more detai?

What were you watching it on when you saw those 'motion blurs'? That sounds like interlaced video being played on a non-interlaced player. Most times a computer monitor. TVs can handle interlace properly, along with some software players if they have a deinterlace option.
As far as the titles, TVs have overscan and cut off some of the image that you would see on a computer monitor. If that's the case, you just need to not use the outer edges of the video area if it's to be shown on a regular TV.
Most of us here don't use Nero for anything, but that's not likely related to your problem. ImgBurn is free and works much better, IMO.
If you used DVDFlick on a already DVD compliant MPEG-2 file, you may have re-encoded it unnecessarily. Better to just edit then author it to DVD with something like GUI for dvdauthor
And welcome to our forums. -
sorry, i forgot to mention that i watched it on my dvd player. but when i watched it on my laptop, there were no motion blurs whatsoever.
could you further explain how i would go about doing this? should i just render it to a different file type? like what?
by the way, thanks for replying. -
I don't know if DVDFlick can just author without re-encoding. I haven't used it. But easy to tell. Authoring only takes a few minutes. Re-encoding takes quite a bit longer, probably an hour or so, depending on your system. GUI for dvdauthor just authors and nothing else.
If your original MPEG-2 file is already DVD compliant, you only need to author it to make a DVD. Authoring creates the DVD structure, the VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS folders containing VOBs, IFOs, and BUP files. See 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left on this page for more information about the DVD structure, format and specifications.
If it played properly on a PC software player, but not a standalone DVD player hooked to a standard TV, you may have another problem. The latter should have no problem with interlace.
You might take one of the VOBs and one of the original files from the camera and drop them into MediaInfo, Stream mode, and it will tell us more about the format and specifications of the file. You can post that text here and the problem may be obvious. -
i think DVDFlick does re-code because it said "video re-coding" for one of the steps. it also had "authoring" as another.
how would i know if the mpeg-2 file is dvd compliant? if the settings fits the specs of dvd's? well my composition and render settings were as follows:
704x480
29.97 fps
D1/DV NTSC (0.9) pixel aspect ratio
full resolution
best quality
i couldn't find "stream mode" but this is what i got from html mode in mediainfo
