DVD-compliant MPEG files do not get re-encoded when authored to a DVD. Is that what you are talking about?....Authoring?

If you have a player that can play mpg files than use imgburn.

If as hech54 asked you need it to be dvd compliant and author than only dvd compliant files will work. It has to convert if its not in dvd spec for a dvd player to recognize it as a dvd video.

That is the list of dvd specifications. If it doesn't meet those criteria it must be reencoded so it will work properly as a dvd.

Otherwise if you don't want to reconvert use a harddrive based player like a wdtv that can play just about anything without additional conversion.

Just make sure you are using the dvd mode profile on the wintv. It still needs to be captured in the correct format to avoid reencoding. if it is not using one of the dvd presets than any software will be forced to reencode to make it compatible.
