  1. Again, I got a problem with ripping a featurette...
The film itself wasn't a problem to rip, using SmartRipper and DVD2AVI.

Now, with the featurette SmartRipper produces a 0k VOB_1 and a some hundred MB big VOB_5. Runing the VOB_5 in a player works OK, video and audio play back fine.
But DVD2AVI only creates a .d2v file without the usual .wav! What is going on here? I also tried including the 0k VOB_1 file. No go.
Smartripper reports the first audio track as 0x80 (IIRC), i.e. the usual stream. Nevertheless, I tried different track settings in DVD2AVI. Also no go.

I'm at a loss here. Has anyone an idea what's wrong?

    Thanks

  2. try using a different program to extract the audio might work, I've had trouble extracting audio with DVD2AVI before. try using AC3dec and its GUI available from www.dvd-digest.com, extras from DVD are the parts that always seem to give people the most grief, goog luck anyway.

Don't decode the audio with DVD2AVI, select "demux all tracks" from the audio menu. This way you'll get all .ac3 and .mp2 audio tracks from the rip. Then just convert to mp2 / mp3 / whatever with BeSweet.

  4. You could also try selecting a different track number within DVD2AVI. I converted a DVD recently, and had to select track 2 instead of track 1.

  5. Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for all the hints!
gonz0, I have tried different tracks without success, but RoopeT's advice was the ticket. Thanks a buch, pal!
Actually, I wonder why I haven't "demux[ed] all tracks" all the time. I'm such a dumbass that I had DVD2AVI decode to wav, just to have toolame/BeSweet convert to mp2 afterwards. I don't so much care about the loss of quality (the source not being that high fidelity anyway), but I think I lost hours of my life when encoding 60 Buffy episodes...

    Thanks again guys!

    Take care
