  1. My tv (hd 720 sanyo) suffered a lightning strike and now the hdmi input and the 5 composite jack inputs dont work. Is there a simple and cost effective way to downstep from hdmi, vga or dvi to either 3 piece rca, s video or coax?

Not sure what you mean by '3 piece RCA',.... component? And it depends on what your source outputs are.

Some ATI cards can output component through a ATI adapter. Are you sure those other TV inputs are working?
S-video, maybe, depends on the card. Usually they come with a S-video adapter or socket if the output is available.
Coaxial (RF) would take a RF modulator, usually from the composite output. You could probably pick one up a Radio Shack or similar.

If your video card only has DVI and VGA, not so easy. Check with the card manufacturer. ATI licenses their chipsets to a lot of board manufacturers and they all have their own layouts.

Do you have a DVD player? If so connect 480i or 480p over analog component (Green-Blue-Red RCA) and see if the TV works.

Set DVD player menus for "NTSC" and analog component.

If it works, then we can figure out how to get analog component HD out of the ATI card to the TV.
