Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer footage from a Digital 8 camcorder using a firewire cable to a DV camcorder with DV in.

Yes it is. Use your video out from your editing prograam, make sure you have rendered the movie in the appropriate DV codec.

Thanks for the reply TOMMO.
One point I forgot to include in my question was whether or not you can directly connect a Digital 8 camcorder to a DV camcorder and transfer footage this way or (as your reply suggests) must you transfer Digital 8 to a PC first then transfer back to DV ?
Nice website by the way. -
D8 to DV (thru firewire) is possible, and you don't need to do D8->PC->DV; so long as you're positive that the target has DV-In.

Thanks jtor.
My intention is to buy a cheap DV camcorder with DV in but no analogue in and use a friends Digital 8 camcorder to convert old 8mm footage then transfer to DV tape.
You've helped finalize my purchase decision.
