  1. I ripped DVD to internal hdd, copied to external hdd Micca slim media player. Problem: only part of movie plays on my plasma tv. 2 or 3 files will not open and will display "unsupported format". Usuing DVD CLONER software. Their support is not very helpful. Please give advice. Thank you.

Ripped to what? VIDEO_TS folder with the vob files?

Try instead use the free dvdfab decrypter. And convert the dvd to one file with for example vob2mpg(no reconversion) or convert to an avi with autogk or to a mp4 with handbrake.

  3. Mr. Baldrick, Thank you for your reply. Yes they are Video_TS folders. I will try your recommendations. Sincerely, Marccc

  6. Mr. Baldrick, I experimented with the DVD CLONER software because I paid for it.(I know! Don't say it!) I am at this moment using the software you recommended. I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you, Marccc

DVD Cloner and many other programs like it are not supported on this forum. They may work, then again they may not.

DVDFab & CloneDVD are supported and they are simply the best for copying a dvd.

I have never had an issue with "unsupported format" with my VOB's.

I wouldn't say they're unsupported, necessarily. Not recommended, certainly. But if some user experienced with those programs wants to step forward and help others using them, I don't think anyone will complain (unless it's obviously spam).
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

I'll agree with that. They are not recommended then.

  10. Mr. Baldrick, If your statement "one thread is enough" means to stop addressing my questions to you, then so be it.

To the honorable forum, I have a Micca slim 2.5" hitachi hdd internal, portable media player. I have used the recommended decryptor software. I have used avi, mpeg, video_ts, all supported by my media player. Problem: part of my file or files come up on tv screen unsupported. Therefore I can only watch half a movie. I've tried ripping 10 different DVDs same results. Do you think my media player is malfunctioning. How can it decode only some files for the same movie? Thank you forum, marccc

Nope, "one thread is enough" means that it's much easier to follow what you have done in one thread.

Have you tried make one avi divx/xvid with autogk for example?

The player might not support files over 2GB and then you can't use vob2mpg.

Dear Mr. Baldrick, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I obviously need to brush up on my terminology. ( Not to mention all computer use in general. )

I have indeed tried to make one avi, and my media player supports files over 2gb. Here's another piece of the puzzle. When I first began using the player it worked fine. I was ripping directly to external hard drive in the media player using video_ts. I ripped 32 movies. They were mostly flawless. Upon ripping my 33 movie, my laptop screen went blank. I restarted my computer. I tried ripping a movie. "Unformatted disc" came up on screen. I reformatted and naturally lost all 32 movies. Ever since my reformat I've had this problem. I'm beginning to think I have a problem with my internal or external hdd or my computer itself. What do you think? Again forgive me for my earlier indiscretion. Sincerely, marccc
