    I've been given video file with MD suffix -not sure I recognize the format - can I convert it - if so, how?

    Start by opening it with mediainfo. It will tell you what you have. I would also ask the person who gave you the file what it is.

    Tried GSpot v 270a but it couldn't identify the format - just says 'file format unknown'


    DVD Flick, Any CD converter did not want to import it - it has the suffix MP4 - might be HD MP4?

    Use MediaInfo, as guns1inger suggested. GSpot's support for containers other than AVI and MPEG is a bit limited or work-in-progress.
    If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

    No luck with Media Info I'm afraid - just shows file name and size which it gives as 560KiB. It's a bit of a mystery.....

    560kb isn't big enough to be a video. Where did it come from ? Does it play in VLC or The KM Player (both of which can play most formats)

    Mystery solved - wasn't a video file - was a text file - I think MD means minidisk (I think). Thanks to all those who replied.
