Hi All, I signed up to this forum after I purchased my Canon HF200. Night time capturing sucks!

What is the best format (mp4, avi, ?) to convert an MTS file to start editing in Adobe or Vegas?

Or do you guys typically edit the raw MTS file directly? Editing meaning, adding text, transitions, stitching.

Thanks for the help in advance!

  3. if you are creating multiple transitions and special effects, then something like cineform neoHD would be in order. if it's mostly just cuts/edits/fades i'd just throw it on the timeline. if your cpu is fast enough it shouldn't be a problem.

converting to a intermediate codec would bring you a hard drive space issue as the files would become huge.

HD video is not really acceptable for laptop editing if that's what you are using. multiple hard drives and fast quad cpu cores are almost a requirement.
