  1. I was wondering if there is a way to burn a dvd without the movie menu. I use nero 8 to burn my dvd, is that feature somewhere in nero? If not, are there software out there that would let me delete the movie menu, so that when the dvd is inserted, it just play the movie instead of going to the main menu

by the way, the dvd i burn is contain the following file format .BUP, .ifo, .vob
could it be that if i delete one of these file type then the recorded dvd won't have the menu

just to be clear, what i mean by "menu" is that page in an dvd where you could access the feature of the movie and chapter selection, etc...

    thx ahead

If you have the original file for example Video.MPG and you want it to be without menu, just choose the option 'burn DATA DVD' in nero.
Add the Video.MPG to the DATA DVD.

But your DVD player must support MPG (or AVI). Mostly it does, look for DivX logo.

For example you download 700MB divX movie, you can make a data DVD with 7 movies!

Are you using nerovision? Can't you set the first play item to the main video instead of the menu? Check the help/manual.

The fact that you have already mentioned .ifo, .bup, .vob makes me assume you already have the VIDEO_TS folder so DVDShrink to remove main menu and have movie only-then burn to disc.

Its simply using DVDShrink as a tool to remove an already authored discs main movie.

Open dvdshrink. Go to 'open files' and then select your video-ts folder. DVDShrink will then open up its preview window and analyse the folder to see if it needs 'shrinking'. Click on 'reauthor'. Now on the right hand side window simply drag your main movie file over to the left hand side window that says dvd structure. Now press the 'back up' button and select where to save your 'new' VIDEO_TS folder (without menu). All in all should take just 2-3 mins.

Job Done!!! Play it to check and then burn.

If it works ok (which it should) please post back to confirm-will help other users with similar situation.

  8. Shrink in Reauthor Mode does remove the menu, leaving you only the movie.

Then you did something wrong somewhere along the way. DVD Shrink Re-author mode has been used successfully for a very long time for probably millions of discs.

Explain what you did, in detail

Burn with Imgburn to decent media and see what happens. When you click Backup, make sure you use the backup to a folder on the HDD option so you have a video_ts folder. Use Media Player Classic HC to open the main ifo file to test play the files before burning.

Your 2nd & 3rd attempts are defeating your ultimate objective so ignore them.

The problem i believe lies with the fact that there are 2 main movies. These will need to be joined together. You will need to extract them from the dvd (Use DVDDecrypter to extract VOBs. Select "No Split" so that you get one big VOB. ) and then reauthor (but with no main movie). Thats my opinion unless someone here who's more experienced can provide another solution.

Having two titles for the main movie won't affect burning, just playback. If it is a single title then the original disc was very poorly authored to begin with. However it could also be two episodes or short titles in the main VTS.

Nero Recode, which is just Nero's version of DVD Shrink, written by the same author.

But if you can't work out how to get Shrink to do it, I don't see why you will have more luck using the same program with Nero in the name.

From what you have written so far, I suspect that all your problems are coming from the fact that you keep using Nero, despite being told to use Imgburn for burning.
