    I decided to use this external drive today, it has been inactive for 2 yrs. I've had it boxed up and shelved. Anyhow, the amber light on the power supply indicates theres power until I plug the 5 pin connector into the drive. The light then goes out and theres no power. Suggestions?

    what's the 5 pin connector? ata power is 4, and sata is 15. if you think it's the power block then remove the drive from the enclosure and hook it up internally or get a ata/sata hard drive usb connector and try that.
