  1. Hello,

I was going to make a disc of divx videos for a friend who has the Philips DVP3962 player. I know the player supports divx, but could someone who has this model confirm whether it can handle subfolders? I.e. the disc has the videos in different folders and you can browse them like menus? Thanks!

I don't have this model, but I can tell you that I have owned and worked with various Philips models and ALL of them can do what you propose. Do note, however, that while browsing the disc is no problem, there are always limitations on what DVD players will play in terms of Divx. High def Divx is out, for example. Here's a stick that talks about what encoding options don't work on some DVD players.

You cant browse them like menus .. they will look like any file selection box on a win machine, not dvd menus

Also, make sure you don't put too many folders on the disc and files in those folders. The DVP3962 probably has a limit on how many folders and files can be on a disc, so keep both low, just to be safe.

(I know my DVP-5990 does (see here for TechFlaws' FAQ on the 3260 and 5990 - it mentions the limits, and those probably apply to the 3962, as well. Not sure about my old DVP-642...))
