My problem isn't the same but it is sync related so, rather than possibly double-post I thought i'd put my problem in here.
I've been watching my mkv movie files from my computer onto my 42" JVC. I use a Creative USB 24-bit live external Soundblaster linked to my LG Home Theatre System via tos-link. All has been fine until recently, all of a sudden, the movies started going in and out of sync, not badly, but noticeable enough to bug you. While looking at different solutions I realised it only happened on the movies I have with a DTS soundtrack, which I prefer. I know I can down convert to 5.1 but I would prefer to keep the DTS. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. 8)

johnc10, you would need to determine if the audio or the video is where the sync problem is. Does the audio always lead or does it lag the video? What type hookup are you using to the JVC display?

What I've seen more commonly via HDMI is the audio is fine, but the video is dropping frames and the LCD TV is buffering and waiting to catch up. This results in the audio being ahead of the video as it just keeps on playing. Temporarily try a different hookup to the TV, maybe composite, and see if that makes any difference. If it does, check your MKV playback software. Try some different ones. VLC and MPC-HC are two players to try. What player are you using at present?

And since your problem isn't really the same as the OPs, splitting you to a new topic.
