  2. DVdshrink doesn't actually burn the disc. It employs another program to do the burning. You could try imgburn to do the burning. Imgburn will produce more compatible burns.

It has nothing to do with IE, but most likely the brand of blank DVD disc you are burning to. This would explain why it would only play on the unit that burned it. (You did not include info on the DVD media you are using. That would have been more helpful to us then the info about your PC.) Also, as Dv8ted2 suggested, you might want try ImgBurn, which is far superior to Nero.

The ONLY consistently reliable media brands available any more are Taiyo Yuden (you will have to order these online) and Verbatim. That's it. If you use anything else, it's got a good chance of being garbage. Yes, almost certainly your discs are junk and that's why you're having problems. And we strongly recommend the use of ImgBurn, which is free, over Nero. Nero is OK for burning data discs or CD audio discs, but I wouldn't trust it for anything else like DVD movies.

Another question is there any good software for 64bit Windows. DVD43 does not work with it.... my new PC is 64bit vista.

  8. hi all just an update to my questions. I noticed in my Widows 2005 Media edition system, if I cancel the burn to disk after dvd shrink finishes coding and shrinking. Nero [8.3.60] asks for a disk... I cancel this operation, then run nero express for DVD movies, add the files, and burn the disk. this process seems to fix the DVD players DVD ERROR UNREADABLE MEDIA.

*note: I am am also going to try this on my XP machine to see if this works also.

  9. you ignored all the good advice you got and insist on burning with a big stinking pile of garbage. nero is only surpassed by roxio at the bottom of the list.

verbatim or taiyo yuden burned with imgburn, there is no other high quality combination.

FWIW Nero for burning only has never done me wrong

Gotta agree about Roxio - when it was Adaptec it was OK IMHO
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've been using Nero for a few years quite happily, but recently found that v9 produces rubbish.
    Imgburn sorted it out nicely.
