Improper joining?

I have a mpeg movie split into 2 file segments with the extension moviename.mpeg.001 and *.002. I use Hjsplit to merge them. But according to Virtualdub, there's an improper join. The resulting file is not playable.

I tried it with a couple of other file joiners, still the same result.

What possible solutions are there?

If is was badly split then it may not join nicely.

I would try either AVI Demux (free) - import part one, append part 2 then output using Copy mode for both audio and video, or Womble Mpeg Video Wizard (not free)

they might be winrar split files not hjsplit. hjsplit is not used much these days.

Just for the info. I got an avi that was split into 2 parts. I used VirtualDubMod 1_5_10_2 to join the pieces into one avi. The result played fine, but DVD Flick just ignored the second part of the avi, clear evidence of an improper join. Then I tried free software AVIMuxGUI 1.17.8 to join the 2 parts. DVD Flick had no problem with that. So you might want to try AVIMux GUI to join the 2 avi's.

@jimdagys - You do understand that DVD Flick will allow you to add multiple files to a single title and will author with a seamless join ? No need to join first.

Ok, I didn't know that. In the past (I have used older versions of DVD Flick), there was a slight pause (about half second) between titles. So I preferred to first join the avi's together. I also think it is better ( if convenient) to first join the avi's together so that there isn't 2 titles showing up in the final authored DVD. But I didn't realize you could have 2 avi's in DVD Flick and have the final result as 1 seamless title. Thanks for the info.

The resulting file had some strange "wavy" frames (bad data it must be), but it's not a big deal.
