I`ve looked for tutorials everywhere and nothing...I want to reach this quality:
    Code:
    Format AVI
    File size 1.45 GiB
Overall bit rate 2 325 Kbps

    Video
    Format MPEG-4 Visual

    Format settings, Matrix Custom
    Codec ID XVID
    Bit rate 1 931 Kbps
    Width 720 pixels
    Height 388 pixels
    Display aspect ratio 1.856
    Frame rate 23.976 fps
    Original frame rate 23.976 fps

    Colorimetry 4:2:0
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) 0.276

    Audio
    Format AC-3
    Format/Info Audio Coding 3
    Bit rate mode Constant
    Bit rate 384 Kbps
    Channel(s) 6 channels
    Channel positions Front: L C R, Surround: L R, LFE
    Sampling rate 48.0 KHz
Ofcourse, some of those are impossible to get from some DvDs,like 6 channels(when audio is mono) but you get what I need to make.Thanks.

PS: If we have an tutorial around here, please don`t be mad and post an link.

So basically you are asking us how to pirate movies ?

Why else would you be asking how to encode to arbitrary filesizes used by pirate groups ?

If you do a little searching on your own you find all the tools and tutorials you need to rip and encode DVDs for private use. However as a first post, this seems more than a little suspicious.

  3. It's not from any "scene" group, as it would be immediately nuked for having too high of a resolution, having only a Mod4 height, for using a custom quantisation matrix, and for being oversized for a 2 CD rip. Based on the information supplied for that encode, I'm not sure it's anything I'd want to emulate, not that the "scene" standards are worth copying for our own day-to-day backups. My suggestion is to use AutoGK to encode until you know what you're doing.

Does anyone know what "Advanced FileSize Regulation" is? 7abatrista?

Edit: Never mind, I looked it up. It's a newer file size "standard" for pirates, just as guns1inger said.

Yes guns1inger,that I read myself. But I have to say it is not new...And this is something I ask for my own personal use,I don`t care about scene or pirates or whatever.Just want to have something to watch on my laptop and to be happy with quality...I used AutoGK and MediaConverter and the final rips were low quality, pixelised(I hope this is the definition).Bad shadows and uhm...sorry for giving wrong impression guys.If an mod think this thread is suspicious ,please delete it.,if not I will be very happy to try whatever you guys are recomending.Thanks.

If you want quality at low(er) file sizes, use Xvid4PSP and encode to H264 in an MKV container. Set Audio to Copy and you can keep your multi-channel audio. Use the X264 Q21 Ultra setting first and see how you feel about the size and the quality. Q18 will improve the quality, but increase the file size.

If you install Xvid4PSP then most of it will become self-evident

Well although guns1inger's suggestions are obviously sound, it may be overkill going by your statement:
Just want to have something to watch on my laptop and to be happy with quality
Seems just a basic Xvid should do fine for laptop viewing.

Rip your DVD as a 'movie only'. Grab this little free app.

For 'open file' choose your VIDEO_TS.IFO. Bump up the audio quality to 160 (multi channel audio is not really needed on a laptop). Choose one of the last 2 Video Presets (the last one produces the largest file), leave everything else at default. The resulting AVI should look quite good on a laptop and better than any 'Scene Release'.
