  1. Greetings,

I am using DVD Decrypter to rip my DVDs to the Hard Disk.

This has been working fine while I was dealing with old movies.

But at the moment I am trying to rip a newer movie and the DVD Decrypter hangs with the message: see image!

Is there another DVD ripper I could use? Please help.

    Many Thanks.

Note: I am going to try DVDFab and see if it works.

END: The free HD Decryptor tool seemed to work. Thank you.

Responding to this despite the original poster finding a solution because some numbskull years from now will find it on an internet search and add a "Me too" reply to it if we leave it alone.

DVDDecrypter hasn't been updated in years. The author was strongarmed into a "deal he couldn't refuse" by a company in the entertainment industry that sued him and agreed to drop the suit only if he stopped work on the program and turned over the source code. Given how 123 Studios was sued out of existence despite trying to find a way to legally back up purchased DVDs without violating the DMCA, I don't think anybody blames the author for taking the offer. ARCCOS and other similar "bad sector" methods of copy protection cannot be defeated by DVDDecrypter because they came out after work stopped on DVDDecrypter. A free version of DVDFab is what you need to use now.

And following up in the spirit of jman98's reply:

There are two other free, effective decryption programs available, though neither are perfectly suited to newcomers. MakeMKV can decrypt dvds, but will output in .mkv files instead of dvd-video. And BDLot ISO Master will also decrypt dvds, but in this case will output as ISO files. ISO files are reasonably easy to work with however, simply mounting them in a free virtual drive like VirtualClone Drive from Slysoft, or opening them with a program that can use ISO files directly, like DVDShrink.

I'd say the numbskull is the OP when the VERY FIRST POST (stickie) in the forum he posted in had the solution he figured out

I can't rip with DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter
