I've bought on ebay a JVC HR-S7955, that, according to the manuals at
http://books.jvcservice.com/booklist.asp?Model=hr-s7955
contains TBC/NR, digital 3R, BEST, video stabilizer etc.
However, my ebay purchase doesn't come with a remote. Do I need a remote in order to access these advanced menu functions, or can I just navigate through the menu options using the front-end controls of the VCR itself? You guys with a JVC HR might know this answer...
In case JVC option-programming requires a remote, can I use a generic remote? or a remote from any other JVC? any cheap remote would do fine, since I'm just doing some restoration of some old VHS tapes (so I just need stop/play/rewind/tbc etc), and do not intend to use this JVC for day-to-day recordings etc.
Thanks a lot for any advice,
Leon

In this model to access these features you must go in menu. It can be done with remote, original or compatible. In most JVC VCR TBC function is activated by a button on the front side. Your model lack this button. So, you need the remote.
