Hello everyone. I'm having such hassles with my video converting at the moment, I really don't know what else to try. Hopefully you guys can help me out.

I have captured an interlaced video with HuffYuv in Dscaler (it's the only program that allows me to capture PAL60), and then passed it through VirtualDub with Smart Deinterlace. Again with the HuffYuv codec. The size is 640x480 and the duration is just under 8 minutes. The quality is excellent but obviously huge in file size (7+GB).

I've tried various methods to convert this to WMV for distribution over the internet, but I can't seem to get a file size/quality ratio that I'm happy with.

A quick pass through Movie Maker with 'high quality video (large)' setting, was, although great in quality, over 250mb in size. This is still too large for me, but with the settings any lower, the quality really suffers and I see squares all over the screen when the action heats up. I assumed that the lack of audio options is probably what's keeping the file size up, so I decided to try Windows Media Encoder and change the audio output to 128kbps (video set to 1500kbps).

However, I think there must be something wrong with it because when it's finished and I go to check the result, the video is never larger than 5kb! I've tried it 5 times now and keep getting the same problem. It says it's going to do 2 passes but only manages one before stopping. Anyone have any ideas on what's wrong?

Tried one pass in wme? Does it work? It maybe don't like your source file.

Or else can you try encode360 or wmnicenc.

Or why not make a flash with mp4 h264 and aac audio? https://forum.videohelp.com/topic355179.html
