If I do a '-vn' it will create FLV with just audio with no problems, so issue must be in WMV3 codec. If I do a ffmpeg -formats it will show a 'D V' for WMV3 - Am I missing any parameters to make this work? Do I need a custom/special build to get WMV3 to decode? I spun my wheels all day trying a variety of things - and pointers would be helpful.

it's probably wondering why you're trying to convert one highly compressed format to another highly compressed format
you've all the codecs I trust...
I think super was successful doing this for me once...
there's also xvid4psp which is a ffmpeg frontend but with more codecs I think...worth a shot

I believe I have all of the codecs..WMP can play the file just fine and I can convert other files to FLV, but How can you tell that FFMPEG can 'see'the codecs installed?

This is a Mac ffmpegX forum. Probably not where you want to be if you are using a Intel PC. Moving this to Video Conversions Forum and deleting your other post there. Please don't crosspost. Ask a moderator to move your thread in the future.
