  1. Hi Guys...

This is my first post, i find this forum is very helpful to me... :P

    My Q's is :-

    * I hve downloaded blurayrip movie in mkv format (size = 7.4gb approx), i want it to burn on DVD to watch on my TV.
    * If i compress 7.4gb to 4.3gb to fit on DVD5, it will losse its quality so i decided to convert it to DVD9 using VSOConvertxtoDVD,But last time i burned to dvd9 using Nero 7 after that i can't play it on my DVD... so this time i decide to get help form you guys...
    * My DVD supports MP4 and DIVX so...if i convert the above mkv files to mp4 / divx format..am i going to get the same quality ?
    * Please suggest me ..i should convert it to DVD9 or DIVX formate ?

    Thanks

    John

Nero is an average burning application for DVD5, and useless for DVD9.

Use Imgburn to burn the disc, and use Verbatim DVD +R DL discs. Anything else is asking for coasters.

The restrictions on bitrate means that in all likelihood you will get a lower quality Divx encoded file than you would if you encode to DVD9. Personally, I would use FAVC because I believe HCEnc is a better quality encoder than ConvertXtoDVD.

Or if you want to make an avi divx/xvid then you can try xvid4psp, open the mkv, choose AVI Hardware under format, change the resolution to 676 x XXX under Video->Resolution and convert. It will probably take ages to convert and with similar quality as dvd so it's probably not worth it.....
