  1. writing from Germany, so please bear with me.....

I downloaded 83 Rapidshare files of the RnR Hall Of Fame 25th Anniversay concerts as MKV files (file name "The_25th.Anniversary_Rock_And_Roll_Hall_2009_x264 _HDTV_720p.mkv"......strangly enough they all run with a file ending 001-083 (Type). I tried to convert them with various programmes (ConvertX etc.) but none of these programms seem to recognize these kind of files.......not really sure what I'm doing wrong here.......any help/tips would be highly aprechiated.......thanks

    2nd post in 5.5 years ?

Most likely rar files, so you need winrar or similar to unpack the archives to get the original file.
    Read my blog here.

I've actually seen longer gaps between posts, but do note that while you certainly don't have to post all the time here, posting 1 question and going away for 5+ years doesn't help you to LEARN anything. You can learn a lot just by reading the forums even if you never post.

Not enough info to help you. I'd need to see the complete name of some of the files, not this shorthand info you have given. Sounds like RAR files to me too, but do note that RAR files can easily be corrupted and P2P networks will just happily pass along the corrupted versions. This is why Usenet uses PAR recovery files with RAR. RAR is just too easy to corrupt. Also, it could be that the person who made it available did not know what they were doing. Or it was deliberately made bad and garbage was posted to waste your time.

Highlight all files and right click "Open with" WinRAR.
If does not work , then try HJSplit (http://hjsplit.en.softonic.com/)
