.DIVX files? It may be enough just to rename to .avi.

Think of AVI as an envelope in which you place your audio and video files. Those video files might be Divx, Xvid, h264, etc. So comparing AVI to Divx is like comparing an envelope to the items you place inside it.

As long as you have the codec to play back DivX files (such as ffdshow ), tmpgenc should accept the file for conversion.

  7. ok, new problem, same files. i got the divx files to be avi files by changing the extention and they are recognized as such by virtualdub. tmpgenc is not recognizing them though. what gives?

When you look at your list of files in Wndows Explorer, do you see the file extensions ?

e.g. are they listed at movie1.divx and movie2.avi, or just as movie1 and movie2 ?

  10. Do you get an error message like file unsupported? You could try changing VFAPI priority settings. Right-click DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and change to priority 2. Worth a try. Good luck.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
