  1. This has been discussed on this forum before but I cant fine it so here ya go…

I have bought more cam than I need. Sony dcr sr45. Should have gone with the hc62.
In windows explorer select all & move to, I moved the movie files from the cam to a folder in my pc. Trying to do the youtube thing and learn how to make a dvd with Windows movie maker but wmm will not allow any of these mpeg files to be moved into movie maker and gives this pop-up.

“The file C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Videos\mayhem o8\M2U00003.MPG cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.”

I’ve not installed the disk that came with my new toy. Is this pop-up telling me to do this? All of these files will play in Windows Media Player with no glitches. Slow to load but they will play. all of them?? Waz up

Think I will try and take it back. Swap for the hc62.

    Technically challenged
    thanks

it may be that wmm doesn't support mpeg-2 with ac-3 audio. it's not on the list of allowed audio formats. mpeg-2 is an already compressed format along with ac-3, not a combo for using in an editor. it would be ok if you just wanted to put it on a dvd with an authoring program.
