Hello, I have some vobs that I want to join and then trim the ends off but I just have the vobs. I wish I knew about DVD shrink before I didnt copy the VTS etc files, but now im left with just the vobs.

What tool can I use to join and then trim them and wind up with new VTS files and new vobs ( like dvd shrink if I had the VTS ). I see a bunch that will work for vobs but I wind up with mpg etc.

    thanks

If you have all the VOBs you can use IfoEdit to make new IFO and BUP files, then see if Shrink can load them.

However it depends what sort editing you are doing.

Womble DVD Wizard can edit VOBs or MPG files and produce a DVD at the end of the process.

Then you could try VOBMerge to give you one large VOB, then try editing and re-authoring. I don't know fo any free tools that will edit and produce a working DVD structure at the end of the process.

Thanks, that should work for me as I only really wanted the VTS so I could do a clean trim with Shrink.
What the best tool for trimming the ends of the merged VOB with out losing and quality?

Thats all I really want to do, join and trim at original quality.

Womble or VideoRedo, neither of which are free, but both work at the frame level. I haven't used any of the free tools, most of which seem to only work with elementary streams - cuttermaran, mpeg2cut2 etc.

Wow I think VOBMerge and Avidemux is the answer for me on this. Very fast, works great and I can choose mpeg-ps, mpeg-ts, or even mp4.

case closed, thanks for your help!

You can load VOB's into TDA, then cut out parts from the end, start, middle, and then author the dvd with one program, add menus if you so choose.

It's not free but i do believe it has a 30day trial period.
