Samsung HD960 Tray stays open

I have a Samsung HD960 dvd player that I bought last year. It has been a good player so far. In the last month I have noticed a problem with it and I have not been able to find any information about it and I was wondering if anyone here has had similar issues. I have noticed when I get ready to play a movie the disc tray is open and will not close unless I unplug the player, plug it back in, and then power it on. After this it works fine until the next day. When I look at it the next day the tray is stuck open again. Any ideas what is causing this?

Faulty/dirty tray sensor or just the tray controller circuit. If it isn't under warranty/maintainance agreement, then it is likely cheaper to replace than have it fixed.
