  1. Hi folks,

I have a music DVD that a buddy recorded from TV many years ago and the DVD is essentially one long chapter. I would like to import the DVD into TMPGENC DVD Author, add song titles/chapters and then burn a new DVD. Will I lose any video quality by ripping the DVD with DVDFab Platinum, importing the files into DVD Author, outputting new VOBs and then burning a new copy?

Other than creating DVD-Video compliant files, I'm not too clear on what else happens when the "Output" option is selected

    Thanks for the help!

You should be able to use the Source Wizard Button in TMPG DVD Author and import the DVD directly. My version doesn't convert MP2 audio to AC3 without some audio quality loss, so I seldom use that feature.

  4. You can skip the step of ripping the DVD with DVDFab Platinum. TMPGENC DVD Author has an option to "Add DVD Video" on the "Source Setup" screen. You can choose to work directly from your DVD or copy the files to your hard drive from there.
