  1. Hello All,

I have been looking at the Canopus ADVC-110 which costs about $250 with the firewire cable for power. All I want to do is to capture VHS to my computer and then burn the video to DVD. Is the Canopus a good choice? Looks like it is highly reviewed on this forum in the lists area. I also saw the ADVC-100 but I cannot find one for sale so I am guessing the 110 replaced the 100.

I am thinking that this cable would work?

I already have Nero Software which I will use for the burning.

    Thanks, Bill

I have a ADVC-100 I've use for several years. It was replaced by the ADVC-110. You can still find the 100's used occasionally on E-bay.

There is also a DataVideo and a ADS Pyro unit that works in a similar fashion, along with a few others.

How much VHS transfers do you plan to do? If more than just a few, you might want to consider a TBC to work with the VHS deck. Or some VHS decks like JVC have one incorporated. I also use a Proc amp for corrections in color, etc. It can get expensive with all of that.

    Some suggestions here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/capture/playback.htm
