    Hi all:

I managed to convert sucessfully a dvd movie into avi file using alltoavi.
The problem now is that I have severall avi files that I cannot join using virtualdub.
It seems that audio rates are not the same !!!Is there any way to make alltoavi convert into one single avi file ??
Or what might have caused the different audio bitrates ??

VBR MP3 would give you this outcome.

Personally I use AutoGK for create Xvid/Divx avi files from DVD source.

I would like to do it with alltoavi, to avoid installing more codecs on my pc.

Anyone knows how to convert to a single avi file using alltoavi ??

All it requires is a ripping tool, which you need anyway, and Xvid.

My (admittedly brief) testing found no way to set splitting or not, and I couldn't get it to produce more than one file, regardless of the bitrate used. Even with a high bitrate and an output larger than a single CD in size, I only got a single file. I also couldn't get it to correctly resize the frame - all the output was badly cropped. Full mkv support my arse.

edit : OK. I can get it to produce correctly scaled output if I use normal mode first, let it fail, then use restricted mode. Quirky little bugger. But so far, only one file.

Of the half dozen or so programs I experimented with recently, AutoGK is by far the best. It's not the fastest, but it created superior quality avi files, and has plenty of options if you need to tweak anything.

Converted a couple of MKV files over night to test, and all of them produced one file each for output, regardless of size. Could find no setting to cause or restrict the number of chunks created as output. I am at a loss to explain how you are getting multiple files.
